Impressive gilded bronze figure of a young lady in a trouser suit smoking a cigarette and standing on a pink marble base. Her long hair is gathered into a pony tail and tied with a bow. A stunning and beautifully modelled, patinated bronze and Carrara marble bust of a lady, probably a member of the Ducal family of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, mounted on a variegated marble base. In the 1930s, Poertzel worked closely with Ferdinand Preiss and many of their works are indistinguishable, save by the signature. Date: circa 1925 Height: 26 cm (10.2 inches) including base Signed: Inscribed “Prof Poertzel" in the maquette and "RuM" for Rosenthal und Maeder, Berlin Condition: Outstanding original condition.
